The day faded; On the table, resplendent, the samovar of the night boiled... (A.Pushkin)
The inspiration for Russian Tea is the memory of a trip to Saint Petersburg, where the perfumers had afternoon tea by chance in an elegant café located inside a large bookstore, on the first floor of a sumptuous Art Noveau building. Sitting at a round table next to the large windows, with the beautiful view of a snow-covered Nevsky Prospekt.
When ordering the "Russian Tea Ritual", the waitresses in white aprons and bonnets brought the teapot, black leaf tea, fresh mint, raspberry jam. Immediately, upon pouring the water into the cup, the infusion unleashed its most characteristic notes. Black tea, heavy and intense. A floral, pungent and biting note. And that unmistakable dry and smoky aftertaste that the campfires give, destined to keep the precious cargo of tea dry on the endless journey through Siberia. Some fresh mint leaves were used to give a nice touch of freshness to the hot water. A teaspoon of raspberry jam sweetened, without altering it, the bitter aftertaste of leather and birch. They enjoyed the moment, slowly sipping the still scorching hot tea, and looking out the window, towards the beautiful Cathedral of Our Lady of Kazan and beyond.
