All about Parfum de Marly
"I wanted to build a house of haute perfumery in which tradition meets the present" -Julien Sprecher
Founder and Creative Director Julien Sprecher's love of perfumery and history is innate. With Parfums de Marly, he expresses his passion for olfactory creation and the splendor of the 18th century, through a temporal duality that embodies the spirit of the brand: "A juxtaposition of the present and the past as coexistent and unexpected sources of inspiration." A lavish extravagance filtered by a contemporary vision. For Julien Sprecher, the classic is always bold.
"I made Versailles for my court, Trianon for my family and Marly for my friends" -Louis XIV
While most of Louis XV's reign was spent in the Chateau de Versailles, Marly was the place where he went to have fun. Marly's castle was a pleasure palace, in which her retinue was strictly limited, leaving room for merriment and extravagant celebrations. The King's court was so obsessed with fragrances, it was nicknamed the "scented court": handbags, fans, gloves, and even fountains were sprayed with perfume.
The King commissioned the Chevaux de Marly in 1743, and these exquisite statues still stand guard at the entrance to the palace grounds. The majestic equine figures played a great role during the time of French royalty. This passion for horses and the extravagance of the 18th century inspire the perfumer's soul of Julien Sprechers.
Unmatched fragrances. An authentic perfumery that honors French perfumer savoir-faire without being tied to old customs. Bold compositions that dare to challenge the norm. The art of living at Château de Marly embodied in each refined fragrance. Precious ingredients. Each bottle, an immersion in the splendor of the invisible.
