Floris London: Three Centuries of Art, Nobility and Perfume

Floris London: Tres Siglos de Arte, Nobleza y Perfume - Parfumerie d'Aquitaine

In the heart of St. James’s, London, a place where history and distinction go hand in hand, a perfume house stands as a silent witness to the passage of time and the art of perfumery: Floris London.

A story written in golden ink since 1730

Founded by Juan Famenias Floris, a Menorcan immigrant, Floris was born from the desire to bring the air of the Mediterranean to London: clean, elegant, sunny. What began as a barbershop and artisanal perfumery soon captured the attention of London's high society, winning over distinguished gentlemen and ladies of refined spirit alike.

89 Jermyn Street, still the house's headquarters, has witnessed nearly three centuries of history, never losing its essence or style.

The only perfumery with a royal warrant

Floris London's relationship with the British Crown is as illustrious as its history. In 1820, His Majesty King George IV granted the maison its first Royal Warrant. This recognition marked the beginning of a lasting and honorable relationship with the royal family, solidifying Floris as Great Britain's oldest perfumery.

In 1840, Floris had the privilege of creating Bouquet de La Reine, a luminous floral fragrance, used by Queen Victoria on her wedding day to Prince Albert.

Following this tradition, in 2002, Floris paid tribute to Queen Elizabeth II's Golden Jubilee with a modern reinterpretation of Bouquet de La Reine: a faithful interpretation of its original spirit, adapted to the monarch's timeless elegance and her five decades of exemplary service.

In 2022, to commemorate the Platinum Jubilee and Queen Elizabeth II's 70 years on the throne, Floris introduced Platinum 22, a refined fragrance that celebrates her legacy with nobility and distinction.

More recently, in 2023, Floris was again honored with a new Royal Warrant granted by His Majesty King Charles III. This appointment once again confirms Floris's commitment to craftsmanship, heritage, and quality.

Among its admirers are also names that defined eras: Florence Nightingale, Winston Churchill, Marilyn Monroe, and Ian Fleming, the creator of James Bond, who even endowed agent 007 with a Floris fragrance: No. 89, as part of his literary signature.

Artisanal mastery: a symphony between art and science

The creation of a Floris fragrance is a meticulous and silent endeavor, a symphony that seeks the perfect balance between art and science. This elegance is born from experience, not artificiality.

Crafted in Great Britain, Floris fragrances use the finest essential oils and essences, gathered from around the world.

For nine generations, this savoir-faire has been passed down as a precious legacy, shaping a unique perfumery heritage. In its historical archive, Floris preserves handwritten some of the oldest formulas, authentic 18th-century jewels that continue to guide the spirit of the house.

Perfuming with heritage and soul

Today, the Floris family remains at the helm of the maison, preserving the original formulas from its historical archive, some handwritten since the 18th century. Each fragrance is crafted in England with precision and patience, blending classic ingredients with modern sensibility. There is no rush at Floris: there is legacy.

Among its most celebrated creations are No. 89, a masculine fragrance with lavender, neroli, and cedar that embodies English elegance; and Chypress, a modern floral with an amber and sophisticated base. Each perfume tells a story and pays homage to a time when perfuming was a personal, almost ceremonial art.

Floris at Parfumerie d’Aquitaine: a bridge between worlds

Bringing Floris London to our boutique is building a bridge between the Old Continent and the New World. Between 18th-century London nobility and contemporary lovers of niche perfume. Between the purest tradition and the most sensitive luxury.

At Parfumerie d’Aquitaine, we believe that true luxury lies in the authenticity, depth, and history behind each fragrance. And Floris London is, without a doubt, a house that embodies that vision.

We invite you to discover Floris, not just as a perfume, but as a timeless experience.
